Only the finest virgin low density polyethylene can be used to produce laboratory mixing bottles. Bottles must meet certain minimum requirements established by FDA and are to be used only with virgin low density polyethylene jars, bottles, carboys, or totes. Lids must have a five-point molded polypropylene closure with a threaded neck rim. Bottles marketed as mixing bottles are leakproof only and are intended for use with water or a solvent-free organic solvent. Bottles marked as hazardous materials are DOT approved and are labeled as such. The DOT number and batch code are laser etched into the neck of the bottle and container, making them easy to find. Bottles marked as hazardous materials or with a flask labelled as DOT approved are also good for general laboratory use.
