Hemacytometer counting chambers, or Neubauer counting chambers, were first developed for the Department of Defense in World War II. They were the first to apply the principles of optics and light to biological samples, particularly to the study of blood clotting. Most importantly, they serve as proof of the clinical applications of Neubauer's original discovery, that living cells have nuclei that can be read with the naked eye and under a dark field. Additional features of the LW Scientific Hemacytometer counting chamber are double countings that are visible under a wide range of illuminations and offer greater cell control. The counting chamber offers an H-shaped moat that has two counting areas and fused rhodium on glass provides distinct lines. This hemacytometer counting chamber has a high light transmission between 29% and 32%. It also has two special counting chamber cover glasses that are necessary for counting blood cells with special nucleic acid content. Also, it is shipped with two cover glass cover slips.![]()
