In regards to height, it really depends on the outer diameter of the objective lens. I would highly recommend going with medium height rings, as the difference in height will be about .1" and that will make a difference in mounting and should not affect zeroing. Savage bases are normally compatible across the board as long as they are meant for the same type of receiver (round back vs flat back) and are two piece bases.
