Chris's Review of AGM Global Vision Varmint LRF TS50-384 4-32x50mm Thermal Rifle Scope

If you have ever been on the fence about thermal, it’s so awesome. Pull the kids out of collage and use the money for this, it will bring you more joy when you look through it vs that but hole kid.
I purschased this scope elsewhere but thought I’d leave a review here since I’m so far happy (almost) with it. It works/worked (more on that in a moment) great, clarity is awesome and detection range is impressive! Easy to use menu functions, the wifi phone connection is so cool you can let your friends look through the scope while you see the image and control the functions on your phone or they can watch the phone while you show them things. I can range well out to 500-600 yards in fair conditions, though I think the beam spread is getting a little large at that range. But if you consider ethics and the useful range of a scope in complete darkness, it well within that range for the lrf.
Field of view is small up close but that’s the trade off for having more range w the 384 res. If you think you want something to scan around the house, I’d definitely get a lower base mag unit but I personally love being able to ID out to 500yards (and I can tell if deer are bedded or feeding or see yotes out to 1200 and farther, I know the critters around here though and their habits, which helps) and shoot confidently out to 400. I took it to Arizona and watched a cougar chasing roosted birds at night at 200 yards, I could see it’s tail swishing when it was about to jump into a bush and I could see the birds even! I am planning to purchase a low power monocular for scanning now… use the scope for the business, even though I don’t have any reason to shoot critters at night. Some day I’ll go hunt pigs though maybe.

The negative, the battery solder connection broke and I maybe only shot it 15 rds on a 20” 6.5 Grendel. I left a message on the AGM website and a very nice woman called me back right away the next morning and send the rma and told me it will have a 5 year warranty now, even though I purchased it before the new rule change. She said the new scope will be in the mail as soon as they get the broken one. Hopefully it is improved in this area, eventually they will and I’ll just keep getting a new version until they are bulletproof!

So far, customer service is outstanding and that’s worth its weight in gold to me with a 3-4k electronic toy! Who else gives a 5 year warranty on electronics! I’ll post again and we’ll see where this takes us.
