I got this scope yesterday and was excited to mount it on my Benjamin Titan Nitro piston .22 cal air gun. the scope that came with it was lacking and i thought this combo would be perfect. I don't know if this airgun is considered "magnum class", but it is capable of shooting a .22 at 950fps (alloy pellet) according to mfg. I would think a lead pellet would be around 750 to 850 fps.. somewhere in there?
Anyway, the Accushot scope mount was great and mounted up fine.. I have no issues with it other than It was a little low for my gun with the 40mm objective and i could see part of the muzzle shroud in the sight picture. the higher mount may have been a better choice. very secure mount and super solid.
the scope i had very high hopes for and really didn't plan on leaving a negative review... but the truth is it just didn't hold up. the first 30-40 mins with it spent mounting it and sighting it in.. once i had good zero i started dialing it in from there.. i was just starting to hit a quarter size group at 15-20yards.. consistently from a rest, not bad... 10 mins later i can barely hit a paper plate at the same yardage and i hear a clunking inside the scope tube around where the reticle should be. my turrets are not turned out to the extrememes and it seems well within the adjustment range.. Out of curioulsity i see if twising of the turrets down gets the clunking to go away, nope. the reticle looks a little warped when looking throught eye piece and upon further inspection the retaining ring that protects the threads in front of the front lens is loose and spining.. Total amount of time with this scope in use: maybe 45 mins... about 100pellets tops... Honestly.. I was dissapointed. so, in the box it goes and back to optics planet for exchange.. Will be looking at other brands next time.
this may work fine on some center or rimfire rifles... but not on this airgun.. buyer beware. "Airgun rated" i am not so sure about? other things i didn't much care for but were willing to overlook (at first) : the lenses were smudged and oily out of the plastic and the cleaning rag balled up and didn't really do anything to get the lens cleaner, garbage. I used one from my other scope instead which did the job. Also the box it came inside of lacked any real cushing in of anykind.. just a scope inside a plastic bag inside a cardboard scope box that the scope flopped around in. the whole shipment wasn't really packaged well really. Only three smaller pillow packs inside a larger box with scope box and rings bouncing around in there.. Can't help but wonder if this had something to do with it.. ? oh well, no more Barska for me. may work fine for some rimfires and the like, but for sure don't recommend for high powered "springer" air guns.
optics planet was awesome at getting me an RMA and exchange with great helpful folks. Going to be be looking into a leapers next time.
Pros: cheap. great scope mount, decent features
Cons: lacks durability, cheaply made
