Stryker's Review of Boyt Harness Signature Series Shotgun Case w/Pocket

Great product in quality as expected from Boyt. Heavy duty double brass zippers, well padded, and quality seams. As mentioned in title, this runs smal regarding fit. I have a Browning Citori 725 Field 28 in. barrel that measures at just under 46 inches. I got the 48 inch case and she is very snug to the point of having to really work the barrel in the tip of the case to give clearance to the zippers. I would order the 48 inch case again as I'm sure there will be a little give as the case breaks in, but if your gun measures right AT a case size or slightly above, I'd skip a complete size up. For example, if your gun measures at 46.5 inches, I would skip 48 and go to a 50 inch case. One other point to make: with the placement of the zippers and the shoulder straps, you are really placing this gun upside down in the case when loading it with the zipper side facing up. Which means if you were to grab the case by the strap as if it was a carrying handle, your gun would then sit right side up and the zipper runs along the bottom of the case. This may sound strange but with cheap traditional cases, I'm used to sliding my gun right side up into the case and then zippering shut the top. When I tried to slide my gun into the Boyt like I would with my other cases, my gun didn't fit at all and I freaked out a bit. The point is that this is a well crafted, very fitted gun case--and there definitely is a correct way to properly place the gun in the case. So if you were placing your gun in the case right side up, your zipper is really on the bottom and you'd be sliding the case OVER your gun. Also includes a lifetime warranty. Bout stands behind their products!
