It's really useful, especially for pistol red dots.

Written on Apr 14, 2024

I'm just a poor boy, no ammo for me.

Nah, but for real, I have a carry pistol equipped with a cheap(ish) red dot. Among other things, this sight doesn't have distinct clicks for zero adjustment. Normally, this would lead me to chasing my shots all around the paper, making indistinguishable little changes, wasting a bunch of ammo, until I get it right. I don't have time for such nonsense.

That's where this bore sight tool comes in. Now, I'm able to get it really close before I even go to the range, saving time, money, and ammo. I now get to use that time to actually practice. Naturally, it's also useful for long guns as well, but I figured I'd include I use mine.

A d*** nice charging handle, if you can afford it.

I decided to put one of these on my WWSD project gun and I love it. I feel it doesn't poke into my chest or back when I have the rifle slung, but it's easy to grab the handle when I need to. The design manages to walk the line between slick enough to not get tangled, but protrude enough to be easily operated by either hand. It's so nice to use, I'd recommend it to anyone who's willing to pay for it.

This is not NV capable. But otherwise, it's cool.

It came in a nice little case with warranty info, manual, sticker, etc. I picked it up and was feeling happy with how it felt in my hand. It's very sturdy and weighty. But as I turned it on, I realized there was no night vision button. Big sad.

I was originally planning on putting this gunsight on my imposter badger. Perhaps I should take some responsibility here as I didn't look it up on EOTech's website or anything, but I wanna warn any potential buyers about the NV since it wasn't clear on the store page.

Concealing full-size pistols

Written on Feb 23, 2024

Ya may not think that you could successfully conceal a full-size pistol, but this system makes it possible. For a while, my 1911 was the only handgun I could shoot well enough to carry, so I thought I'd try the vertical shoulder holster system. And yeah, works quite well. I found I can hide it under a loose fitting hooded sweatshirt and still draw quickly from a seated position. The only issue I have is that the pistol grip does stick forward somewhat, but that's likely because I'm trying to hide such a big gun on my person. Anyway, highly recommend.

Good enough for me.

I bought this sight to put on my Hellcat Pro and I'm satisfied with it.

It's got a nice sized window, the 6 MOA dot isn't too big or too small, it's low enough I can still use the irons, and it's always on with automatic brightness adjustment.

Downsides are that it has a bottom loading battery which means ya gotta take it off the gun to replace the battery, requiring you to re-zero it. Also, there are no distinct clicks for red dot adjustment, meaning it may take a bit more ammo to sight it in correctly.

These things don't bother me because I intend to get plenty of practice with my gun and re-zeroing the dot or replacing the battery won't be all that inconvenient.

So, like I said, it's good enough for me.

Lightweight and slender, but qd mounts don't work.

Written on Apr 06, 2023

When I was shopping for AR10 handguards, I had three goals for it. It had to be as lightweight as practical (full top rail was not necessary). It had to match the .210 tang on the upper receiver (my upper is also from Aero Precision). Lastly, I wanted magpul qd sling mount compatibility. Two of these things are as just as I wanted, but the third is not. The qd sockets are the correct diameter, so you can insert the sling swivel into it. However, you're unable to push it in far enough to engage the lock on the sling swivel. Maybe this can work if ya use a smaller barrel profile, mine is a Faxon Big Gunner 308. But the Big Gunner profile barrels are already pretty small. I don't know, just be careful. I'll still use this because it looks good and I can just buy an m-lok qd socket, but I'm just kinda bummed it didn't work out as perfectly as I imagined.
