Hunt n Fish's Review of DNZ Products Hunt Masters Two Piece Mounts

Ok, they are a very well made product. Their machining and trueness is very good. Ive used DNZ brand rings for many years and have had no problems until NOW. I feel kind of bad, as I have recommended DNZ ring/mounts to many people for years, and after dealing with the Owner/CEO over my issue, Im bothered by that and kind of regret I did. Be careful of their newer torque recommendations on their packaging. I would disregard their 35 in/lbs on rings and stick with the older torque spec they had of 25 in/lbs. If not the results could be SCOPE CRUSHING. Happened to me, didnt even make it to the 35 in/lb mark before scope rings bottomed out when the scope crushed. It wasn't a cheapo walmart scope either. DNZ response was, turn the scope 90 degrees in the rings and recrush it back and retorque, like its going to take that torque the next time. They also said you cant use a torque driver but have to use a t-handle allen wrench and do it by feel. LIKE THEY CAN FEEL 35 in/lbs. SO really what they did was post a torque spec on their packaging, as if its safe for all applications, and basically said you cant achieve this torque using COMMON tools they know all gun guys would use like a wheeler fat wrench or similar. They are some wish washy weasels. Its sad a USA made company is that STUPID. Technically they owe me a scope. Luckily it had a no questions asked warranty and has been replaced. BEWARE. Its a good product if you use old torque spec of no more than 25 in/lbs, but their customer service is lacking.
Pros:
  • well machined
Cons:
  • DNZ company lacks good logic
  • beware of their recommended torque of 35 in/lb, it crushes scopes
Best Used for:
  • hunting/target shooting/ and if not careful crushing GOOD BRAND SCOPES
Would Recommend: Yes
