DR-MA's Review of Elite Survival Systems Liberty Gun Packs

I started using a belt pouch years ago because of back problems--carrying my wallet in my hip pocket didn't help. When I got my LTC I got an S&W Shield and the Blackhawk pouch with the hidden compartment to carry it. Nobody noticed any change! Then a month ago I put a TLR6 on the Shield (the old eyes don't work like they used to, even after cataract surgery). With the laser/light mounted, the Blackhawk was just too tight a fit. Then I saw the Liberty and decided to give it a try.

The interior "holster" was easy to set up for my Shield. The only gripe is that the front sight snags a bit on the draw. Further adjustment may help that. A second mag fits just fine. There is room for my wallet, and my cellphone fits in the outside pocket, but my Leatherman tool just doesn't want to fit in the small zipper pocket. It looks like I have to switch to a smaller EDC knife--but I will miss the tools!

Having ripcord pulls on both the gun & mesh pockets is confusing. I'm going to replace the cord on the smaller pocket with regular zipper pulls. That way I'll know to go for the cords if there is ever trouble.

The belt loops are a little tight, especially the horizontal one, making it a bit hard to get the pouch on and off a belt. On the style pants I wear, wearing the pouch horizontally means having to skip a belt keeper. That doesn't seem to be a big problem.

Overall the construction seems very good and we'll see how it holds up. BTW, I wore the pouch for an entire day at home with my Shield in it and it was quite comfortable, and my wife didn't notice the change!
