AZ Desert Runner's Review of Faxon Firearms G34 FLAME Barrel, Match, Competition, Gen-4, 9mm SAAMI, 416-R QPQ, Threaded Barrel

I was looking to replace the threaded barrel that came with my Glock model 34 custom competition pistol. I figured I don't need a threaded barrel on it to add another 3/4 of an inch to the end of the slide. Knowing that Faxon has an excellent reputation for their Barrels and doing an online search, of course I came to Optics Planet, who I do trust for quality products and service, albeit a bit of delay in getting it shipped out from their warehouse department. Upon receiving the un threaded barrel finished in nitride black, I inspected the bore to find it looking a little dull and completely unpolished within the entire length of the lands and grooves. Now I understand, that this was $115 Barrel retail, but you would think that they would have better procedures for finishing the barrels compared to other comparable products. I am going to keep it and at least try to see what the groups look like compared to the other barrel that came with this pistol. If it doesn't shoot, I will be sending it back to Faxon and request either an upgraded barrel that has some polished to the bore, Before nitride finishing the barrel. I have not taken the time to read online whether this is an ongoing problem or not or it is just what I am too expect from Faxon Line of Pistol barrels. If it doesn't shoot a decent group, it's going back to them, and their customer service rep is going to hear exactly what I think of this product. At this point, I will wait to see if others have found the same issues with unpolished Barrels from Faxon.
Pros:
  • Inexpensive
Cons:
  • Lands & grooves unpolished
