Great scope for the price - Hawke Sport Optics Endurance 30 1-4x24 Rifle Scope

I gave the scope 4 Stars, but could have given it 5 except for the fact that I also own 3 Leupold XV-Rs (I own two of these Hawkes). So the 4 star rating could have been a 5 from me. The scope is very good at what it's made for, low light and short to medium range hunting. My two Hawkes are now mounted on a .35 Whelen and a Ruger #1 in 9.3x62. I used the M750 Carbine in .35 Whelen to take my nice Kentucky buck in November and had the illuminated dot on a 15 mins before SR when I shot the deer. The dot appears to me to be a 2MOA dot, visible as black when the reticle is turned off and red when turned on. A 2MOA dot has zero effect on accuracy at any sensible range this scope would be used at.

I had one of mine mounted on a Marlin 1895G and shot two consecutive 3 shot groups at 100 yards; 3/4" & 3/8". Nope, no worries about shooting that reticle with excellent accuracy. The range of brightness is good (regulated with a dial, infinite settings), but not as good as my VX-Rs. It does get low enough, but not as low level as my VX-Rs. It does get bright enough to use in full daylight and this is a good usage in this scope. Set at 1X, reticle on and both eyes open, it shoots like a red dot sight, that fast. The lens covers are a nice touch (I only use the front) and the scope has the feel of quality to me. Except for not quite going low level enough in brightness for my tastes, there are no other Cons to speak of. Although I do prefer the smaller size of the VX-R 1.25-4x20 along with it's slightly longer eye relief.

The scope is an excellent value for someone wanting an illuminated reticle scope for close-in hunting. If you buy it and try it, you'll leave (like I do) your Zeiss scopes at home when ultra low light performance is important on dark colored game like hogs or bear and bring this one instead.
