E's Review of Hogue Polymer Swivels 1 Inch 00050

Recently bought these sling swivels for an AR type rifle. I already had a Hogue sling, so wanted to have matching swivels. Was concerned about the polymer material, but had no issues so far. No reason for concern, these swivels seem just as sturdy as metal swivels, but appear to be a little lighter. I believe these come in 2 sizes: 1" and 1.25". My Hogue sling is several inches wide at the pad, but is 1" wide where it attaches to the swivel. Other slings have different widths, and sometimes their advertised width is not the width of the sling where the swivel attaches - so make sure you get the right swivel size for your sling. These swivels attach to the sling stud in a traditional QD way in which the pin threads in from one side to the other. However, some users may find the end of the pin difficult to reach or twist - these ends are flat, not round/ridged. I don't take the sling off/on, so it doesn't bother me at all, but it may be difficult if I did.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Sturdy
Cons:
  • QD may be difficult for some
Best Used for:
  • Attaching sling to sling studs
