Mequon-Mike's Review of Lone Wolf Arms AlphaWolf Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .45 ACP Non Threaded Barrel

I have the very first version of the M & P Shield in .45 ACP, and this 3.88-inch or 99-millimeter barrel is a drop-in replacement for the original factory barrel. It adds 0.625-inches or 15.8-millimeters to the over-all length of the pistol. It is made of stress-relieved 416 stainless steel, which has been heat-treated to RC 60. The threading on the barrel is .578x28, which makes it ideal for adding a silencer or suppressor. I have had no issues shooting factory ammunition, but I have experienced failures to reset with 200-grain semi-wadcutter reloaded ammunition.
Pros:
  • Better accuracy
  • Drop-in fit, included thread protector
  • Fluting for weight reduction
Cons:
  • failure to reset with reloaded ammo
Best Used for:
  • adding a muzzle device to pistol
