JG's Review of Luth-AR MBA-4 Stock Assembly

I hate when people have unrealistic expectations for something they purchased, or when they don't spend much time with a product before reviewing it. I have had this stock on an AR-10 20" 308 build for about 6 months now, and I'm sorry to say it is a disappointment.

First off, at north of $60, you're in the magpul/B5/BCM area of the market, and you expect performance that competes at that price point. The wobble in this stock is extreme, it is as bad as a $20 stock that I purchased exclusively for aesthetics for my AR-15. At both ends of the tube too, not just when it's fully telescopesd and making less contact with the tube. You can tighten the clamping bolt for a snug fit, but then you lose the ability to adjust the stock position without then reloosening the clamp. There are ways to jury rig the tube/stock to reduce wobble, but again, for a $60+ stock I shouldn't have to.

Second, the butt pad has no grip/tackyness to it, it feels more like the polymer body that the stock is made out of than rubber. Less of an issue for me personally but still relevant, the pad is rock hard.

Nitpicky gripes: no included QD attachment, finicky adjustment/telescope latch

I would return it but I'm way past the return window.

Pros
Anesthetics: uniform black color and very smooth polymer construction, attractive at a glance, modularity (can be modified with Luth's proprietary parts)

Cons
Excess wobble, no grip on the buttpad, poor price/performance ratio

Best used for
A display rifle
