Metallic Velocity's Review of Night Fision Perfect Dot Night Sight Set, U Rear, Springfield

Ok, so I got two sets for my XD(s) (plural not the XD-S)...U notch, white rear with green lamps, and U notch Black, with green lamps. The front sights both (orange) needed to be fitted on my service model and sub compact. A little bit of careful filing/emery cloth on the bottom did it. They are very bright but here’s something No one mentioned and I ended up liking the blackout with lamps better. The lamps on the black set are purposely smaller and therefore dimmer than the front sight, making picking up the front sight much faster in extreme low light. The whites are almost brighter than the orange front, I assume because the lamp carries a bit of glow into the white section since it’s a polymer injection (not painted), so I recommend IF you go with white back set, go white IN FRONT so they are at least even lighting. The carried light in the orange even makes the color appear a different green from the white rear (a bit of an optical concussion...lol) and slightly dimmer therefore. So there you have it it’s always up to user preference but I say if you want high speed nightsighs, these are great for the cost. Brighter than Trijicons a bit. But if you get white rear you may consider white front and I highly recommend the blackout with green lamps, or even the completely blackout rear with no lamps if you like that sort. I haven’t tried the green front and would like to, given the chance but I liked the visual aspect of the orange better (personal taste). These are less square in the rear than the Trij’s which I actually like These better for it, and they give you an ok surface for one handed /belt rack though a little slicker than other ones I’ve used, your mileage may vary. Oh and one other note before I forget. The XD sights seem to like to come out backward right to left if you looking down the slide from the rear but the night fision front sights seem to want to go in the same direction (right to left) instead of putting them in the opposite way you took the old ones out, just Something to note if you are doing this change-out yourself. Something I don’t recommend without a sight pusher, just don’t use the pusher to take out the stock set or you’ll probably break your tool. They can be a bit stiff. Anyways shoot safe and have a beautiful evening!
Pros:
  • Bright and awesome sights for the money
  • Brighter than Trijicon
  • Highly recommend the blackout with green lamps rear set
Cons:
  • Orange may look slightly different in color and dimmer if you are getting white rear set
  • Whites in rear may detract from front sight
Best Used for:
  • High speed low light sight pickup
Would Recommend: Yes
