Let me save you months of research - NightForce NXS 5.5-22x50 Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane (SFP)

I did months of research before I made this purchase. I considered things like what magnification I needed for shooting at 600-800 yards, turret type and increments, reticle type and sub tensions, first focal plane versus second focal plane reticle, field of view, and reputation of the manufacturer. This optic is the complete package. With the MOAR reticle matched to MOA turrets ranging and adjusting elevation are simplified. I chose a second focal plane reticle because although the first focal plane reticle maintains constant sub tensions the reticle would be too broad at maximum magnification. Considering at the ranges you would be using this optic you would be at maximum magnification anyway I chose the second focal plane. Lastly Nightforce has a great reputation and warranty. I don't expect any long term problems but if I do I know Nightforce will stand behind their product.

Ultimately, if you spend less you WILL get less but if you spend more you MAY get more. I was prepared to spend over $3000 for the optic for my rifle and I still chose this scope.
