Dan's Review of Osprey Global Red Laser Boresight

It came with faulty batteries green leaking acid. Clearly visible if anyone had bothered to look at the package. I cleaned it up and bought replacement batteries for 21$ at my local hardware store. So im now into this project 45 dollars or so. I have to clean the battery connectors before installing the new batteries, not because the old batteries leaked in the bore sight but because it wasn't powering on when the new batteries were installed just didnt work at all. I get the thing to finally turn on and off as you would expect. Next problem the bolt will not close the round wont chamber. I purchased the .223 version and did use it in a 5.56 rifle shouldnt be an issue. Same brass just a higher pressure for 5.56. the laser it out if round by a fair bit so some fine sand paper and now finally we are chambering, not without using the forward assit but its chambering. I zero it at 50 yards and all my shots are low left. Ok maybe its user error i toss it back in to check if i messed up the zero point moved several mils in my scope i take it out and reseat it and its showing several mils off in a different direction. i put it into a known sub moa rifle and it shows off of zero three different ways each with a different direction and elevation. Thats when i realize the lazer isnt actually straight. This isnt a bore sight so much as it is a 20 dollar bullet shaped cat toy. If you want to get within a foot of your target at 50 meters it can probably do that but mine was just a mess. Off by 13 inches laser to actual point of impact. So in total i had to spend about an hour making the thing actuallt function at all only to discover it is just a bullet shaped laser pointer that was dropped one to many times as a child long before it ever came into my hands. Id send it back but its not worth my time and the return shipping for a 20$ dollar credit. If you want a bore sight spend the hundred bucks get a decent one and realize this is no more than a bullet shaped laser pointer
