I firmly believe the 230 grain 45 ACP is the finest self defense round in the world. I always test what I shoot as far as category of ammo. What I have discovered doing my own chrono and expansion tests is this. The difference between a quality manufacturer of 45 acp hollow point ammo is that the difference between standard pressure and + p in 230 grain is only a slight increase in FPS but a whole lot of increase in muzzle blast. I stick with standard pressure in the 230 grain weight. For a meaningful increase in FPS I suggest 45 + P but in a lighter bullet like a 165 gr. Expands better too than a 230 gr +P
