Serious astronomers know that telescope's "light grasp" - a function of mirror diameter -- is better if you have a larger mirror. That is why ASTELEâ„¢ added an extra 5mm of mirror diameter when our optical physicists designed the ASTELEâ„¢ 95 G (German Equatorial Mount Model). That 6% larger mirror diameter gives the ASTELEâ„¢ 95G a comfortable light-gathering edge over 90mm Maksutov Cassegrain telescopes with smaller primary mirrors.Â
Whether it is used for astronomy, birding, target spotting or whale-watching, this versatile instrument will astonish the user with its brilliant contrast and tremendous light-gathering ability. The 1200mm focal length combines with the standard 25mm Plossl eyepiece to bring objects 48x closer. It will easily handle 100x magnification without the resolution loss of smaller instruments - just interchange to a quality 12.0mm eyepiece, or any of the dozens of eyepieces available in the 1 1/4" size preferred by experienced amateur astronomersÂ
The rugged ASTELEâ„¢ 95G is ideal for the advanced amateur who appreciates a no-nonsense portable scope that is easy to carry and set up. It is perfect also for the beginner who desires a high performance instrument built to last a lifetime.Â
Everything the makers of competitive 90mm telescopes claim you can see, will be viewable to you with theASTELEâ„¢ 95G - but with this difference - you have more of that precious light-gathering ability to "pull-in" fainter objects. You can see the planets, excellent the lunar detail, the rings and moons of Saturn, the color bands of Jupiter and four of its moons, many nebulae and star clusters.Â
The diffraction-limited optics are multi-coated and the mirror is superb quality, specially annealed for astronomical applications. We use no plastic in critical components. The optical tube is aircraft aluminum alloy and the focusing mechanism and all bearing surfaces are metals selected for smooth operation and durability.
The ASTELEâ„¢ 95G comes with 1.25" 25mm Plossl eyepiece, 90° star diagonal, slow-motion controls, setting circles, accessory tray, and fully adjustable aluminum tripod.Â
Note - for "spotting" we suggest adding a 45 Deg erecting prism for birding, whale watching and nature studies. The image will then appear in the exact orientation as real life - but 7x-10x closer than the most binoculars.
FREE A9507 Lens Shade for Asteleâ„¢ 95 and A9527 Universal Photo Adapter are included.
