Like Ball and Buck, the International Watch Company "IWC" was founded in Boston, MA with deep roots in the American pioneering spirit and entrepreneurship. We welcomed the opportunity to partner with such an iconic brand to infuse Ball and Buck design details on, what we consider, the best pilot watch in the world. This particular model, the Spitfire Automatic, remains true to the purist instrument design of the Mark 11 navigation watch, which was produced from 1948 onward for the British Royal Air Force. The robust automatic movement has bidirectional pawl-winding that builds up a power reserve of 120 hours. The bronze case, olive green dial and brown calfskin strap means that, like all Ball and Buck products, the watch develops an incredible patina with wear. With the passing of time, bronze darkens in color so no two watches will look exactly alike--truly a product that gets better with age.Inside the titanium case back lies an in-house IWC crafted 21-jewel movement composed of 163 different components--a true masterpiece of Swiss engineering. The face features the iconic Ball and Buck Arthur logo in blaze orange opposite a date window and the case side features a subtly engraved "Ball and Buck" word mark. Hands are illuminated in green and a special soft-iron inner case effectively shields the movement from magnetic fields for more accurate time keeping characteristics. This timepiece is produced in a very limited edition of just twenty-five total editions for the global market. Each unit is uniquely numbered on the caseback X/25.
