With its solid copper, bonded or hollow point metal base Tipped Triple-Shock X Bullets from Barnes are designed to penetrate and expand on impact with the same force as a one-shot kill. The bonded solid cannot be loaded to speed or slowed down like a conventional bullet. The boat tail, which begins the expansion, causes the back of the bullet to rise like a slug, consuming energy before it is expended. As the projectile's speed and energy is reduced the petals open and cause it to expand back outward, continuing the Barnes tradition of bonded solids. This toughness allows the TTSX to penetrate deeply, stay with the main body of the bullet and expand outward laterally, out of harm's way.
