Through the integrated venting system and prepackaged catalyst charges, BD Diagnostics 260618 Anerobic System achieves highly focused environments by removing oxygen from the immediate vicinity of an object(s). Simply place your object(s) on the jar/rack/tube holder and within seconds the anaerobic environment is converted to a phase of reduced oxygen. Because this reaction initially occurs without the generation of gases, there is no possibility of by-pass gassing. Further, BD Diagnostics anaerobic systems do not require vacuum pumps, gas tanks, manometers or pressure reducing valves. This anaerobic system utilizes a patented catalyst reaction chamber that allows focused and immediate deaeration catalyst charges to be readily emitted. Further, a sealed catalyst reaction space inside the jar provides a convenient method for introducing charged particles (e.g., blood or serum), which would otherwise be oxidized during the reaction. Therefore, reactions initiated by the catalyst reaction chamber of the BD GasPak 150 Anaerobic System are easily initiated by simply removing the catalyst reaction chamber and putting the lid on the jar. The jar then becomes spherical due to the unique internal geometry of the dish rack/tube holder. By omitting the lid, the gas bubbles in the catalyst reaction chamber are immediately exhausted, preventing any release of gases into the immediate environment. Hence, organisms which are not able to tolerate the reduced oxygen in the environment die.
