This Disk Susceptibility Test Kit is a one-step, multiple-drug method for determining susceptibility to mycobacteria and related organisms by the polymicrobial method. The disks are sterilized by an automated vacuum process that eliminates exposure of the organism to potentially harmful agents. The mycobacterial growth inhibition profiles provided with each disk are readable under a UV light, and may be directly compared to the MIC profile provided with the test media. The color coding of the disks is based on the drug name. The disks are sterilized by the manufacturer with a gamma irradiation method. They are formulated to be orally ineffective. The only difference between a non-sterile disk and a susceptible disk is the number of rings per disk. Each disk contains a single concentration of the antibiotic or anti-fungal agent.
