Compostable Brain Heart Infusion Agar Slants are designed for the selective isolation and cultivation of fungi. Composed of a base of Brain Heart Infusion Broth base, Difco Brain Heart Infusion Agar is utilized for the identification and cultivation of fungi from clinical and non-clinical sources. Supplemented with 5% sheep blood, Difco Brain Heart Infusion Agar is used for the detection, isolation, and cultivation of fungi. This agar is also used clinically for the detection of a variety of gram-positive cocci and gram-negative cocci. The addition of sheep blood differentiates this agar from others in that it promotes the rapid growth of fungi. These slants are built to last by sourcing BD's premium organic cotton material. Additionally, the material is certified to be free of DNase, RNase, pyrotoxins, and iodine.
