M Broth is the most widely used animal feeder medium in microbiology, and is used for the preparation of media used for the identification and cultivation of a broad spectrum of fastidious and nonfastidious microorganisms. The base of this medium is the Mueller-Hinton agar, which has been used for many years as a basophilic medium for the isolation and cultivation of hemolytic activity. However, the addition of the Mueller-Hinton agar has resulted in the recognition of hemolytic reactions in many laboratories. Nonfastidious microorganisms such as those that produce hemolytic reactions will grow on this medium, and the presence of hemorrhagic reactions is considered a sign of pathogenic potential.
