Clear polypropylene BD Vacutainer Venous Blood Collection Tubes are sterile vacuum blood collection tubes that have shoulder flanges to facilitate blood draw. The Body Fluids hematology tube has a three point, snap-locking seal that prevents bursting of the tube when aspirated blood is drawn and the easy-to-squeeze rubber stopper compresses and locks blood inside the tube until the patient is sewn into the tube. The wide mouth design of BD Vacutainer Venous Blood Collection Tubes allows easy access for vacuum suction with or without gloves. The BD Vacutainer Venous Blood Collection Tubes have BD Hemogard* closures which incorporate a plastic shield that protects lab personnel from contact with blood on the stopper or around the outer rim of the tube, and from potential splattering when tube is opened. These sterile vacuum blood collection tubes are manufactured to the highest standards and validated for use with human whole blood, heparinized whole blood, platelet concentrates, and red blood cell blood preparations as well as for research use. Compared to USP type IV tubes, BD Vacutainer Hematology Tubes have a vacuum occlusion which closes the tube completely and draws blood into the vacuum, rather than allowing vacuum to develop between the tube and the seal. The vacuum occlusion provides a significant increase in vacuum which allows for easier vacuum removal with or without gloves.
