Berger 22423 Target 22 Caliber .224 90 GR Secant Very Low Drag 100 Box - Berger Bullets offers shooters a range of Bullets that are perfect for a variety of shooting situations. The VLD (Very Low Drag) series of Bullets from Berger is designed to have a very low drag. The majority of the time, as the projectile nears a target, energy is transferred to the tip of the projectile, initiating expansion. Because of this, when the projectile impacts a target, energy transfer takes place from the tip to the base of the projectile, ultimately causing the projectile to move forward and travel less distance. Because the projectile is moving less distance, energy tends to be stored and released from the tip, as opposed to straight line slugs, where energy is released at the time of impact. Because of this, the penetration force tends to be right on target. Energy is retained at such a great rate, nearly all of the time, that energy is retained by the tip of the projectile, ultimately causing expansion. The 90grain VLD Target Bullet is the same as the 224 grain VLD Expansion. The 90 grain VLD target is the same as the 224 grain VLD Expansion, but has a slightly thinner jacket and a J4 Precision base. Because of the thickness of the projectile, the BC is actually higher in BC than the .224 VLD, making it a more modern-day velociar projectile.
