A disposable plastic cuvette is a kind of tube that measures light passing through a medium. During the heating and cooling process, the gas molecules in a liquid mix and create a pressure that determines the pressure inside the cuvette, causing the cuvette to expand or contract, ultimately changing the density of the sample. As a result, the sample may be contaminated with unwanted DNA, DNase, or RNase. To help avoid this, BrandTech designed this plastic cuvette to have an air-permeable back surface. This makes the surface rougher than glass or quartz, and provides some level of scratch resistance. However, they are not completely without disadvantages. As with all plastic cuvettes, BrandTech UV-Cuvette Disposable Cuvettes do not have any advantages for applications involving high back pressure.
