We have installed literally hundreds of these front winch plates over the years with great success. The idea is to lift the winch off of the bumper a few inches with minimal damage to the bumper and a winch friendly winch plate. Our version has a few design features that set it above the rest. The first is that it features a larger surface area for winching cables and rope to pull through. This gives the winch cable a larger surface area to pull through. This feature also gives the winch cable a much more secure anchor point with the winch cable securing a winch cable rather than a free winch cable. The winch cable can then be run full time via the winch cable. The second feature of this winch plate is that it lowers the winch cable and winch out of the way for the front half of the vehicle. The winch cable can then be routed completely underneath the vehicle through the front bumper. The winch cable and cable tie in points are then fed into the back of the winch cable using the bundled winch cable end. Lastly, the winch cable exits the vehicle at the same angle as the winch cable, eliminating cable pinching on the last few feet of cable. The second feature of this winch plate is the winch cable exit, which comes with a pre-drilled hole for the spool wire. These two features make it a great choice for anyone wanting to install a winch on a TJ or TJ Wrangler with a long top.
