The French company C.A.M.P. has created a line of products designed to combat rock fall. The French company says the Anti-Balling Plates are the most cost effective, durable and well-made plates on the market. The plates are "Ballasting-Free" (ABP) and "Anti-Sink" (SSN) and have a superior foul ice coefficient. The ABP works by placing a thin stainless steel plate across the pointy tip of the spike, which prevents the point from pointing down into the snow. A patent pending attachment system eliminates the need for a metal spacer and the overall weight is only slightly more than a traditional ice axe. The Anti-Ball plates have a sharp edge at the pointy end which prevents the point from dragging over the surface which compromises their hold. The long-lasting ABP has a much higher failure rate than the classic BAL plate. C.A.M.P. is a leader in the development of high quality anti-balling plates and accessories.
