Questions & Answers
What are the advantages or disadvantages of 10, 15 and 30 Mm blocking filters used with a 90Mm Coronado telescope? Expert Answer

The advantage is that you protect your eyes from damage from viewing the sun, but the disadvantage is that the larger the filter (in mm), the more light and clarity you lose. The filter size you need depends on the focal length of the eyepiece you are using.

I purchased this blocking filter to upgrade my SM60-BF10. I used every size blocking filter but I think BF15 has best cost performance. The function and performance are VERY excellent.I am satisfied very much.

Product Info for Coronado Blocking Filters for SolarMax Front Filters

Coronado Blocking Filters for SolarMax Front Filters are the second element in any Coronado H-Alpha Filter system, it is just as crucial to your safety and the system's performance as the front element. Use the following guidelines for selecting which Blocking Filter you need based on the focal length of the Telescope Accessories being used. If you are switching to a longer focal length Telescope Accessories you can purchase blocking filters separately. There is no advantage for visual use in using a larger blocking filter than required based on the focal length. The Coronado Blocking Filter is not a stand alone filter. It is an integral part of the Coronado design and cannot be used without a Coronado H-Alpha SolarMax Series Filter on the front of the optical system.image
