The DPM Mechanical Recoil Reduction System is a direct replacement for the stock recoil rod and does not change the configuration of the pistol. The spring plug with the marked groove is offering a heavier buffer effect and the spring plug with flat surface offers a lighter buffer effect (slide full open position).
The spring plug must always be installed when the DPM Recoil Rod and springs are used.
As lead the evolution of recoil reduction technology, products may change versions (new design with different springs, with or without plugs, washers, etc.) without any prior notice.
