Plastic pipets are disposable and intended for use only while the user is looking and working in the vicinity of the sample. Large bore and wide mouth allow a large volume of sample to enter the pipet, yet won't contaminate the sample with a large volume of liquid while tipping the pipet. The preferred choice of many researchers, the Microcap has the same low-flow characteristics as most air pipets, and can be used many times over with only a few drops at a time. Before each use, the bulb of the micro pipet is carefully pulled until it is red, and the micropipet is then withdrawn and funneled into the sample cup, where the liquid is allowed to adduct the sample. Since the volume of the sample cup is greatly reduced as the sample is drawn in, the volume indicator beads change color to show that the sample has been taken. The color-coded top of the micropipets easily identifies the type of fluid sampled. The color coding system makes it easy to identify the Microcap being used. Each blue tip tube is clearly marked "P". The long blue tip is easily spotted onto the tip of the micropipet, and the base of the micropipet is marked 'S' for spotter lancing. The color-coded tops of the micropipets are easily spotted onto the tip or the full length of the micropipet. For spotting onto a slide or gradient plate an attachment 'S' can be attached to the tip of the micropipet to make an accurate "spot" on the surface of the plate. Then a squeeze of the bulb reveals the volume and the liquid is dispensed into the well.
