Federal Heavyweight TSS Ammunition uses an extra-dense tungsten payload that's made to take down turkey birds with a precision accuracy that can take down birds from a distance. Tungsten is an excellent weight for shooting turkeys because it doesn't settle as it ages, making it an excellent material for shot shells. Tungsten has a very limited availability because smelting it turns the tungsten into a powder which then has to be pressed into a given size then cooled into a solid BT material which then has to be sprayed with a powder reducing tungsten dust and potentially radioactive goblets. The trick to using this turkey hunting ammunition with older shotgun models is using the HEAVYWEIGHT TSS payload. Tungsten shot is much denser than lead and thusly provides much more energy on target than lead. Federal has made use of an advanced FLITECONTROL FLEX wad to keep these tungsten pellets in the focused conical shape we know and love. This particular wad has full length bearing surfaces on two sides making it ideal for use with ported chokes as well as standard turkey chokes. The full length wad also prevents any direct contact between the extra hard pellets and the bore of the shotgun, reducing the erosion of the barrel.
