Is a 1 or 1 0 hook bigger?

In the fishing hook sizing system, the larger the number associated with a hook, the smaller the actual size of the hook. It may seem counterintuitive, but that's how the system works. So, in the case of a 1/0 (pronounced "one-aught") hook and a size 1 hook, the 1/0 hook is larger.

To clarify further, the hook sizing typically follows this pattern:
