The Garrett XLT Metal Detector has been Garrett Engineering's flagship detector, used by millions of people world wide. Garrett XLT Metal Detectors depend on two simple principles to function: proper geometry and material science. Its ability to consistently detect targets in almost any soil or water condition is amazing. This is accomplished by the dual convex lenses found in Garrett's VLF output reticles. Each VLF metal detector is capable of detecting a specific X-treme range of conductivity which produces a specific depth. The first cap, the Garrett X-Length Metal Detector (aka Long Range Locator or Long Range Detector as it is sometimes called), has a unique X-Y axis design. This provides the detector with a compact, self-contained search head. The only thing this detector won't do is cap itself. It's not a drop in replacement like many other metal detector re-sellers on the market. These have a very specific re-charge cycle. For this reason, Garrett only sells the Garrett X-Long Metal Detector in this configuration.
