will this make a 14.5 in barrel over 16 inches? Manufacturer Answer

Unfortunately no, this will not bring a 14.5" barrel to a 16" minimum length. This muzzle device has an OAL of ~1.94" and the industry standard thread length for AR's is ~0.625". (1.94 - 0.625 = 1.315) + 14.5 = 15.81"

I’ve got this comp on my 18 inch BCM. All I can say is it works as advertised. Keeps the muzzle very controllable but also doesn’t have bad concussion. Having the QD taper mount option is also a nice option.

Product Info for Griffin Armament Taper Mount Hammer Comp 5.56mm

The Griffin Armament taper mount muzzle devices interface with our taper mounted suppressors. The Taper Mount 5.56.mm Hammer Comp provides 2 sacrificial baffles that reduce recoil and ensure maximum service life of your suppressor. Slotted compensating features provide tuned muzzle stability. CNC machined from a solid bar of heat treated 17-4ph stainless steel, the Taper Mount Hammer Comp is built to last. This muzzle device is 1.89 inches length from the countersunk thread shoulder to the front face, and is equal in length to an A2 flash suppressor with .14 inch thick crush washer, so it can be used in conjunction with so called 14.7 barrels which are marketed as able to be permed to 16.1 inches non NFA length using an A2 and crush washer. The actual barrel length 14.835 inches will bring this device and crush washer mounted A2s to 16.1 inches breech face to forward surface of permed barrel assembly. Taper Mount Thread Protector is compatible with this muzzle device for added protection of thread mounts. Includes shim set. Diameter: 1.08 inches. OAL: 1.94 inches. Weight: 3 ounces.
