The Harken Carbo Air Double Block is made of a special composite combining the advantages of low-friction air bearings with the best composite sliding surface possible. The Carbo Air Low Friction block is the newest generation of Carbo Air blocks, which Harken pioneered in the racing world. Shock load calculations have proven Carbo Air blocks superior to other attempts at reducing torsional flex in the running and control modes. The basic design of the Carbo Air block utilizes a special structural Carbo Air body incorporating a special structural honeycomb of Carbo compo parts. This allows special splines to be effective over a wide range of breaking loads and temperature conditions. The Carbo Air block sliding surface has also been modified to provide the lowest possible friction in order not to damage the sensitive nature of the Air blocks sliding surface. An improvement over older designs, using different Carbo Air surfaces, now gives even greater strength to the entire system.
