These single-stage regulators are designed for the safe, highly controlled delivery of pure molecular weight gases (e.g., chlorine, molecular oxygen, argon, etc.). Regulators provide adjustable flows of precise molecular weight gases to suit the needs of the applications being conducted, whether in the life sciences, basic research, or the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and petrochemical industries. Regulator bodies are precharged with an iso-standard purge gas, which prevents any possible cross contamination of the regulated gas with atmospheric air. They may also be precharged with argon, which is a safe and environmentally friendly choice. The common isotopes of molecular weight gases are chlorine, which does not require precise dosing since the reactant gases are already absorbed from the incoming gas stream during compression. The by-pass diaphragm valve is arranged to allow the entire flow of gas to pass through the valve without any back pressure since the valve opens during the compression cycle and closes at the same time. To assure precise flow control, the diaphragm valve may be rotated or the entire body may be rotated in multiple steps. After the gas is compressed, the pressure is released by atmospheric pressure variation and the residual pressure is released as the diaphragm opens.
