These hydrometers, which are designed for measuring the specific gravity of heavy liquids, are furnished with a certificate of analysis. Each style has a specific gravity bubble inside the bulb base, which is removed when the hydrometer is removed from the liquid side. The bubble will disappear when the hydrometer is removed from the liquid side. Hydrometers are to be used only for measuring the specific gravity of a liquid. For measuring the specific gravity of a viscous liquid, place the hydrometer in the liquid side of a hydrometer bulb. Place the hydrometer on the liquid side of the bulb, over the bulb and allow to stand without removing the bulb. Hydrometers are to be calibrated before each use or batch of hydrometers.
