This is the classic Herold strop, with a frame of black leather and heavy duty brass. For the very best edge retention, use Herold oil. For the very best results, use Herold soap. The Herold strop is the best in the field for edge retention. Also very good for polishing and for touching up. With the "old black" sheath, the strop is classically portrayed. The filling shows the Herold strop with its historic origins. To protect the strop from oxidation, the sheath is chrome plated. This protects the edge of the blade. With the "new" look, the strop gets a stylish black border. Like all of the products manufactured by Herold, the strop is delivered without a blade. This is the "new" strop in the sense that it is not a Razor Strop as such, but a Straight Edge (e.g. for a Muskrat Knife).
