Does the inner belt have the soft (loop) or the hard (hook) portion of the Velcro. I don't want the inner tearing up car upholstery, etc.

The inner belt with have the loop side.

Is the sizing similar to other competition belts? For example, if I have a 34 inch waist, should I order a 36 inch belt?

I found my own answer on the Hogue website. For a 34" waist, you order the 34" belt, #50534. Personally, I think I will order the next size up, just to play it safe.
