The Iver Johnson Arms Modified Mobil choke tube is one that will be used by Iver Johnson fans as well as many others. This choke will produce a pattern that will be very tight resulting in knockdown performance. This choke will produce a very concentric pattern with little or no lead tail. This ensures that all lead will leave the choke. Iver Johnson uses Cryo-Harden quenched and tempered steel along with stainless steel springs to produce these choke tubes. Each choke tube is marked on the head with the gauge, subsonic, adjusted for concentricity, and the constriction type. These chokes do not produce a blue-color but will produce a grey-blue color inside the choke tube. These chokes are machined not merely hammered but plunged in the proper constriction type. Over-sizing of chokes may occur when heat treatment alone does not produce the proper pattern.
