The Gas Comp is the final piece of the puzzle in the puzzle known as an effective muzzle flash/compensator. Gas ports help reduce muzzle rise and noise to a greater degree than a straight comp. However, a straight comp with no gas ports also leads to an increase in the flash/noise signature when shooting, especially when firing from the prone (or fire support) position. The Jacob Grey Gas Comp is a true example of a practical compensator that reduces muzzle rise and muzzle blast to a minimum degree, while offering excellent flash/signature control. With a gas port config the gas compensator acts more as a brake keeping the muzzle blast forward of surrounding shooters rather than obstructing them. With a gas port config the muzzle flash is pushed to one side and the gasses are compressed and confined to the body of the compensator. Gases are bled off at the ports and the gasses are contained within. We do not recommend the Gas Comp be used with fixed barrel guns or rifle sights due to the risk of severing the surrounding finish.
