The modified round-bottom shape of this Boston style bottle is intended to make dispensing easier. The wide mouth allows the user to fill bottles to the brim without rim interference. The continuous thread on the outer surface of the Boston round shape allows the addition of small amounts of powder or other material without affecting handling or sample retention. The modified round shape also allows the user to fill bottles without having to hold the item such as powder or water and, in most cases, swallow it if ingested. The modified shape also allows the user to carry a small amount of powder or liquid without having to carry a contaminated jar or use a hose clamp. A fire-safe cotton plug attached to the outside of the bottle protects against burning samples. Bottles are manufactured from soda-lime glass with a plain finish. The stoppers, which are included, are designed for use with dry powder as well as with sterile cotton or gauze. To apply an acid, etch the bulb from the bottom of the bottle and mark the bottom of the bottle with an etching tool (e.g., Elixir® brand). Markings on the bulb and body of the bottle are permanent, and may be dismantled for cleaning. Bottles are calibrated to contain the amount of liquid contained. The lower rim of the bottle should not be obstructed by any small opening or lip deformation. The neck should be cupped to allow for easy dispensing.
