These tubes can be used for transporting or storing microbiological isolates or seed material. They are manufactured from borosilicate glass with a uniform wall thickness providing chemical resistance to a wide range of buffers and buffer solutions. The unique manufacturing process eliminates inclusions that generate abrasion and provides a strong, stress-resistant barrier to media and culture solutions. The long necked tube allows sterility of the aspirate over extended storage periods. Tubes resist breakage from falling debris. The large opening permits sterility attempts without risk of contamination from splash or leaking media. The necks are reinforced from separate pieces of borosilicate glass. No special caps or dispensing equipment is required. Tubes with the large-mouth design have a wide mouth to admit the full volume of culture solution and a small lip to avoid piercing the culture surface with needles or cotton swabs.
