Both knives from Knives of Alaska are made with D2 steel, are double-drawn, and have a cryogenically-treated blade, and are set in an attractive, oiled leather sheath. Both knives feature a drop point blade (won't roll blades like a sheepsfoot)with a straight edge. The point of the Blade is more rounded than a traditional Hawkbill, which many experts feel is the most practical size and shape for a hunting knife. The difference between a Jaeger and Cub is that a Jaeger has a larger, curved blade (jaegeresque)with a stronger "choil" (guard). A curved blade (jaegeresque) means that the user has more surface area to get the job done, and therefore, a more effective one. The difference between a Jaeger and Cub is that the bear has a "serrated" blade (wider, shorter, sharper, finer, duller) edge (hawkbill, cougar, etc.,) is that the ground (peened)in the blade (stripped from the grinding process) has been polished, and now has a non-stick coating.
