Tubes feature a flat-bottom design and are ideal for transport-related applications. Made of polystyrene, tubes exhibit excellent chemical resistance and are hygroscopic. Flat-bottom design prevents tip breakage and separation of media. These tubes meet clinical laboratory standards for biochemical and microbiological testing as well as Good Manufacturing Practices guidelines. Individual tubes without caps feature rounded flat bottoms. Large tubes with long scribe-off serrations are recommended for use with blood-borne pathogens (e.g., hemolytic transients, syringe-caliber syringes, heparinized blood tubes, and microhematocrit tubes). Tubes with crimped, uneven bottoms should not be used for culture - they contain too much aeration.
