Filter replaces the traditional absorbent wool filter. Effectively absorbs odors generated by the Ammonia VAP testing procedure. The fibrillar structure of the carbon filter is recommended for the continuous sampling of ammonia vapor. An alternative to the fibrillar wool filter is to use a methylene chloride pre-filter in conjunction with a methylene chloride activated carbon filter. When the ammonia vapors are exhausted from the respirator, the activated carbon filter ads a layer of activated carbon and serves as a last stage of the cleaning procedure. The activated carbon filter supports the digestion of odors by binding and adsorbing the odors to the absorbent pad. The carbon filter absorbs and ads a dark brown color to the odor eliminating layer. To clean the odor from the respirator, first clean the surface of the activated carbon filter with a non-woven brush or paint scraper. Allow several hours for the activated carbon filter to fully absorb the odor from the sorbent pad. Place the filtered ammonia sample pad on the activated carbon filter and odor eliminating surface to fully asorb the odor.
