Three-step filtration includes an upper barrier to guard against particulates that exceed the walls of the guard vessel, a lower barrier to guard against unwanted light, and a cover to protect the operator from the developing solution. A guard for the outer, upper barrier vessel is required to prevent cross contamination and ensure the integrity of the system. The upper barrier vessel requires a non-segmental current to be present throughout the entire flow path. This in turn requires a non-segmentation filter to prevent contamination.
